Car odor removal is one of the more difficult challenges when it comes to interior detailing.
The two biggest factors to how much odor we can remove will come down to 1) how long it’s been present 2) type of odor.
The longer (and more intense) the odor in the interior, the harder and longer it will take us reduce the odor to a satisfactory level. Unfortunately if it’s a severe condition of years of heavy smoking, our chances of removing 100% are extremely low.
At that point, we can definitely reduce the odor, but to get rid of the smoke/odor entirely, it would require you to replace some of the fabric material like the headliner, carpeting, and floor mats.

When it comes to removing odors and smoke from places, especially car interiors it takes careful steps. While the process is long and meticulous, the results can be fantastic. Removing bad odor or even smoke from your vehicle greatly improves its value and comfort it provides. We begin the process with our full interior car cleaning. This allows all surfaces and upholstery to be clean from stains, tobacco, or residue left over from the odor. Then we move to our ozone treatment
What is a Ozone Treatment?
Ozone Generators are a type of air purification system that produces Ozone (O3) to help reduce the presence of airborne contaminants. Ozone’s highly reactive composition of three Oxygen atoms allows the molecules to attach to airborne organic contaminants to oxidize and eliminate them.
How we use this equipment is after cleaning all surfaces, this creates a fog inside the vehicle trapping the airborne odor atoms and dissolving them. This type of purification helps greatly reduce and in most cases eliminate any smell present.
With this level of cleaning it requires ample time to prep and actually run the ozone treatment. Typically expect a 4-6 hour process for this service.

All Surfaces Are Vacuumed
All Surfaces Are Vacuumed Every surface, like the headliner, under the seats, carpeting, floor mats, will be thoroughly vacuumed
Clean All Plastic & Leather Surfaces
Using a specific smoke odor cleaner, all the plastics, leather, and rubber surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned (even the hard to reach areas)
Extract All Fabric Surfaces
Using our extractor, the seats, carpet, floor mats, seat belts, and if possible, headliner will be shampooed
Clean All Windows & Mirrors
Every interior window and mirror will be cleaned to remove smoke residue and leave a streak-free appearance
Completely Dry Interior
Before we can continue, the interior must be 100% dry. Based on the condition, this vary greatly in time.
Begin Ozone Treatment
With our commercial grade Ozone machine, we'll run the treatment for 2 to 5 hours depending on the condition and repeat as needed It is absolutely necessary you replace your cabin air filter with a new one. If you keep the old one in, even after we do the entire odor removal process, once you turn on your AC, all the trapped smoke odor in the filter will circulate right back into the interior.
